Paperless Licensing
Paperless Licensing is Here!
Pocket licenses will no longer be issued for initial licensure or license renewal. Licenses must be verified online using the Department of Consumer Affairs License Search, which will provide comprehensive, real-time license information, including enforcement actions.
The Physical Therapy Board of California (PTBC) held discussions regarding pocket licenses at its September 2019 and December 2019 meetings. You may access the meeting materials and discussions below.
Following PTBC’s decision at its December 2019 meeting to move forward with eliminating the pocket license, an article was included in its newsletter issued April 2020.
PTBC is excited about this important consumer protection measure that promotes online license verification to more fully inform consumers, employers, and all who interact with physical therapist and physical therapist assistant licensees about a licensee’s status.
